Back to school!

My Math Professor is a fantastic teacher.  I get to have him for one more term.  He explains things in such a way, that it’s easy to understand without “dumbing” it down.  He writes example after example on the board to practice and interacts with the class by saying “Right?” when he’s going through the steps, to insure we are following.  Most often, we answer, but there are times when the class is pretty quiet.  When this happens, it’s usually because a concept is somewhat difficult to understand, so we’re all concentrating intently on what he’s saying.  During these times, he still tries to engage us and becomes a tad more insistent, “Right?...Right?...Say ‘yes’”.  We snap out of it and respond with a resounding, “Yes!”

I am really enjoying school, but I find myself feeling antsy, wanting to get back to work.  I know, odd, right?  I don’t even get to complain about Mondays or looking forward to Friday anymore because I have no classes on Mondays and Friday means I now have time to do all my homework!  Seems backwards, doesn’t it?

Em, my youngest, starts high school this year.  NOW I feel old.  I didn’t feel old when my oldest had a child and made me a grandmother – it felt sort of like he was a nephew or something.  Now that they live with us and I’m being called “Gramma” on a regular basis, it’s starting to set in.  It’s fun being a younger grandparent, in a way.  I don’t have to color my hair….yet; when someone I don’t know particularly well is talking to me and they find out I’m a grandparent, and say, “You don’t look old enough to have a grandchild”, I am SUPER happy!

Going to school at my age is strange.  There are days when I feel like the oldest person on campus, aside from the Professors and staff.  I've been mistaken for a staff member a time or two and the younger students seem to gravitate to me with questions, which is kind of nice.  I'm proud to say, I'm 'Acing' all of my classes so far, and it seems to be flying by, which is good – I need to get back out there and feel productive again!  ‘Course, it wouldn’t hurt to have a regular income again, either!   For now, though, I’m a college student.  That makes me a sassy, young co-ed, right?  Right?  Say ‘yes’.
