I
took advantage of the snow day today (yes, I know it's March....the END of
March, no less) to get caught up on some phone calls – some to State agencies
that are not known to answer in a timely manner. I hate sitting on hold,
waiting my turn – I’m impatient like that. “Your call is very important
to us. Please enjoy this 40 minute flute solo with the high pitched notes that
will likely make your ears bleed…”
One
of these agencies is one I have been playing 'tag' with for days. I leave
a message, she calls back when I’m not home. Three times now. How
does she DO that? And what’s more, her voicemail message is very detailed
AND she says the entire thing in Spanish too. Couldn't I just
press ‘0’ to skip all that and just leave you my number? You know, so you
can call me back when I’m not here?
I
don't pray for patience. Ever.
And
why do some people call me, wait for the entire message and then hang up – just
enough time to register a message waiting? Then all I hear when I check
my messages is the <click> of your phone hanging up - private number on
the caller ID, of course. I need to just change the message to, “Please
hang up and text me.” Why do we even have voicemail anymore? Maybe
those callers that hung up were just mesmerized by my monotone voice message
that the 'BEEP' is what jolted them out of their trance in time to hang up.
At least I have the presence of mind to hang up BEFORE the 'BEEP' on YOURS!
