Just
about every weekend for the past year or so, the aroma of something fabulous
wafts from my kitchen....I mean, Emmy's kitchen. At times, I am
prohibited from entering - at times, I hear a "<GASP!> Mom! Come
help!" We've perfected the art of substituting this or that and discovered
some of the substitutions are far more tasty than what the recipe called for.
There
is one drawback to her baking: Mamma is gettin' to be a little Fatty
McButterpants! As the only one around most of the time to
"sample" her creations, how can I possibly resist? I am most
thankful that she has flourished in this area as my own skills in the kitchen
generally involved a microwave. Until she expressed an interest in
cooking, I only had a kitchen because it came with my house. I used to
have a funny little sign over the stove that said, "For Display
Only". It has since been donated to GoodWill!
Emmy
will own her own restaurant one day. Every time she makes a new creation,
whether it be a dessert or main dish, she always says, "That is definitely going
on the menu in my restaurant." It's unusual that a kid who started
cooking a baking at age 13 already knows what she wants to do with her
life. I am quite proud of her!
